Special Hunts

• You will need to log-in or create a new account at https://programs.ksoutdoors.com. This is the same account information used for deer and turkey check-in or previous special hunt applications.
• To review or edit an application, use the My Information link in the upper right corner after you log in.
• Youth Hunts: To apply for Youth Hunts that have maximum age requirements, you must apply with the youth's name and date of birth.
• You must provide the following information:
  • First and last name
  • Complete address
  • Phone number
  • Email address (this will be used to for the draw notification)
  • Date of birth of the person going on the hunt
• Check the Acknowledgement box to verify your information. 
• Select Your Choices section will now appear. You may select up to three choices for each species that has a hunt available for that season.
• • Review the Special Hunts Narratives for valuable hunt information before applying. To view the narrative on the hunt list, select the More Info button next to the hunt of interest. This button may not be visible on some mobile devices.
  • To select a choice for a species click on the corresponding button Select * Hunt Choice * being the choice, 1st, 2nd, 3rd.

    • This brings up the hunts list corresponding to the species and the season you are selecting. You can either click the corresponding Select Hunt button on a hunt from the list, or if you already know your hunt code, you can enter it in the Hunt Code box and click Select Hunt.

• This returns you to the application and replaces the button you clicked with the hunt you selected. You will also see a checkbox located next to the hunt, labeled Any Date. If you check this box it allows you to be in the drawing for any hunt for that location and hunt type, not just the date you selected. Giving you more of an opportunity to draw a hunt.
• Once you have selected all your hunts click Select Hunts.

To review or edit your current application, use the "My Information" link found on the upper right corner after login.

Hunts can be viewed on the Special Hunts application site. You can Display All Hunts or filter by:

• Species
• Hunt Type
• Area (all participating properties)

Clicking More Info opens hunt descriptions, narratives, weapon type details, special requirements, and area maps.

Note: The More Info button may not display on some mobile devices.

Species Groups
Hunts are organized into eight species groups:

• Dove
• Deer
• Deer - Whitetail Antlerless Only
• Upland including pheasant, quail, and other upland game
• Duck/Goose
• Turkey
• Furbearers
• Other small game

Hunt Types

Youth Hunts: The hunting party must include at least one youth accompanied by an adult mentor. Adults may not hunt. Youth is defined as a person 16 or younger, but some hunts have more specific age requirements. To apply for Youth Hunts with maximum age requirements, you must apply with the youth's name and date of birth.

Mentor Hunts: Open to youth and/or novice hunters supervised by a licensed adult (age 18 or older) mentor. Both may hunt. A novice is defined as a person 16 or younger or anyone who has not hunted the species listed on the special hunt in the last three years. Some hunt hunts have more specific age or experience requirements

Open Hunts: No age or experience restrictions.

Disabled Hunts: Designed for hunters with disabilities; some hunts have specific requirements. Disabled hunters must have a valid Disabled Identification Card issued by the Kansas Department of Revenue for disabled parking privileges. Special accommodations for any of the hunts may be made for physically challenged hunters upon request to the hunt contact person. KDWP has 4 Track Chairs that may be available for individuals with mobility challenges.
