Council Grove Boater Safety Certification
Council Grove City Lake Park is owned and maintained by the City of Council Grove, and the safety of all lake visitors is a top priority. Boating rules and ordinances at the lake are enforced jointly by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks and the City of Council Grove Police Department. The City may also adopt rules that are more restrictive than statewide regulations when needed to protect public safety.
This study guide is designed to help lake users understand the rules that apply on Council Grove City Lake—both statewide Kansas boating regulations and lake‑specific ordinances. After reviewing the material, you’ll complete a short knowledge exam to demonstrate your understanding.
How the Certification Works
Before beginning the 15‑question exam, you’ll be guided through a brief review of the rules and safety information. The exam is correctable to 100%. If you miss a question, simply read the explanation provided, select the correct answer, and continue.
Completing the certification is required to obtain a Council Grove City Lake permit and decal. Once finished, you can print your certificate or save it to your phone. Your certificate must be readily available for inspection by law enforcement officers while operating a vessel on the lake.
