Pratt Education Center and Museum

The Pratt Education Center and Museum is free to the public. We are dedicated to growing our community’s understanding of nature, wildlife, and the ways in which we influence and interact with the outdoors.

The purpose of the Pratt Education Center and Museum is to showcase the diversity of native Kansas wildlife and enlighten visitors on how nature benefits all of our lives! Here, KDWP cares for more than 100 live animals between our four main exhibits and 12 400-600-gallon aquaria. Pratt Education Center and Museum also boasts a variety of unique taxidermy displays and dioramas—great for a close encounter in a safe environment.

Built in 1913, Pratt Education Center and Museum has always housed open exhibits on the main floor for Kansans to explore. While these displays and exhibits have undergone many modernizes since their creation, the awe they inspire in visitors still leaves a lasting impact.

Navigate your way through our Prairie Room, Avian Room, Amphibian and Reptile Room, Invertebrate Room, and Aquaria Hall and immerse yourself in a wide array of native animal ambassadors, taxidermy dioramas, and educational displays that provide an up-close experience with the wildlife and habitats found across our beautiful state.

The Kid’s Corner is great for all ages, filled with books, games, coloring pages, and an animal track stamping station. Keep an eye out for educational activity worksheets on the wall to add to the value of your visit and continue the fun by checking out a Nature Pack to take home for a week!

The Pratt Education Center and Museum lies just off Highway 54 on 25th Avenue, directly across the street from the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks Operations Office.
