When to Fish
Fishing is available year-round for most species in Kansas, but trout, paddlefish, and bullfrogs have regulated seasons.
Free Fishing Days: June 6 and 7, 2026
On those days, anyone can fish by legal means without a Kansas fishing license, but all other permits and fees still apply. Length and creel limits also remain in effect.
Paddlefish Snagging Season
March 15 through May 15 each year.

Trout Season
December 1 through March 31 each year.
