The Wildlife Education Service provides educational materials for preschoolers through adults to promote an understanding and appreciation for Kansas wildlife, wetlands, and other natural resources. These materials are very adaptable to an integrated, interdisciplinary, whole language approach to learning.
These educational materials stress ecological concepts and illustrate how the usage of our natural resources affects wildlife. The goal is to develop an environmentally responsible citizenry that will involve itself in the decision-making process and work to ensure and maintain the quality of our natural resources.
Copies of these materials are available either in hard copy or on CD upon request from the Wildlife Education Service section at (620) 672-0751.

Something Wild: A Wildlife Education Guide
Teachers Guide (Lower Primary)
"What is Wildlife," "Introduction to Habitat," and "Food Webs" are the main topics for the Lower Primary Guide. These areas of inquiry are connected to one another by using the following themes as organizers: Models, Systems, Energy (Matter) Flow & Exchange, and Patterns of Change. These organizing themes are similar to those utilized in the Kansas State Board of Education Curricular Standards of Science.
The materials and activities are not just science oriented, but can be integrated into a variety of subjects within the on-going curriculum.
Teachers Guide (Lower Primary 1-3)
Teachers Guide (Upper Primary)
The inquiry areas within the Upper Primary Guide are: "Classification," "Adaptation," and "Threatened and Endangered Species." Through the investigation of animal classification and adaptation, students will be better suited to identify why some species of wildlife are more prone to become threatened or endangered than others.
The materials and activities are not just science oriented, but can be integrated into a variety of subjects within the on-going curriculum.
