The area is being used as a combination wildlife and fishing area. Construction of an earthen dam created a lake approximately 140 acres in size. The remaining 366 acres consist mainly of tall grass prairie with numerous wooded draws and slopes. Soils are thin with rock layers below much of the area. Much of the area consists of native tall grass with heavily wooded draws.

Management of the area is a multi-species management including Bobwhite quail and White-tailed deer. The area is also ideal for bird watchers. On the east side of the lake, past the gate, it is foot traffic and bicycles only.
