Pottawatomie State Fishing Lake No. 1 is located five miles north of Westmoreland or two miles south of Blaine on Kansas highway 99. Of the 190 acres purchased, only 24 acres was inundated for the lake. The maximum depth of the lake is 17 feet, with an average depth of 6 to 8 feet. Fish species which can be found include Channel Catfish, Black Bass, Crappie and Bluegill. The area also includes 166 acres of public hunting. Populations of Deer, Turkey, Fox Squirrels, Bobwhite Quail and other species can be found on the property.

Pottawatomie State Fishing Lake No. 1 has several primitive camp sites located on the North as well as West sides of the property. A short hiking trail is located on the property that offers a great chance to enjoy the outdoors and get a little exercise at the same time!
