Milford State Park Update 1/4/2026: The state park is open for use. Milford Lake is approximately 1.06ft below conservation pool level and water temperature is approximately 48 Degrees.

State Park Office Hours: Monday-Friday 8am-4pm; When the Office & Gatehouse are closed, please use the self-pay station for camping and vehicle permit issuances (cash in self-pay envelope and credit card at the electronic kiosk machine).

State Park Area Temporary Closures: The Walnut Grove Boat Ramp is closed due to holes in concrete launch lanes. Timberlane Big Oak, Honey Locust, and Red Cedar Cabins are closed for the winter season. Fish cleaning stations, Cedar Point, Walnut Grove, Prairie View, Eagle Ridge, and the Splash Park restroom facilities have been closed for the winter season as well.

Winter Camping Season Information: All campsites and shelters are available on a first come, first serve basis November 1st, 2025-March 31st, 2026. Water and electric service at the campsites will remain on during the winter months too. We ask that you insulate your water lines and campers appropriately for the winter months. Your water hydrant and hose will need to be heat taped and then insulated from the ground level all the way to the top. If you do not insulate, the water hydrant must be turned off and hose unhooked. The Woodland Hills Campground shower house and restroom facility will remain open throughout the winter months for use. The boat ramp vault toilets are open for use as well.

Blue-Green Algae Bloom Information: Please visit the KS Department of Health and Environment website for any current blue-green algae bloom information. KDHE monitors lake conditions annually April 1st-October 31st.

Milford State Park Camp Site Alert: Campsites 201, 202, 206, 207, 209, 210, 218, 220, 401, 403, 405, 407, 409, 411, 413, 415, and 417 are back-in campsites with the hookups on the passenger side (opposite of typical back-in campsites). Longer cord and hose may be needed.

Milford State Park is located on the southeast shore of the state's largest lake Milford Reservoir, which has approximately 15,700 surface acres of water and 163 miles of shoreline. Milford State Park is a favorite getaway for outdoors loving visitors. It is a popular destination for anglers eager for walleye, crappie, large mouth bass, white bass, catfish, and small mouth bass.

Milford State Park is a diverse 1,084-acre area located on the southeast end of Milford Lake. The park is a multipurpose recreation area that provides services to campers, boaters, fishermen, hunters, water enthusiasts, wildlife viewers, picnickers, and trail goers. The park features eight campgrounds with 60 sites offering three utilities, 91 sites offering two utilities, and the remaining 103 sites are primitive. Park amenities include 10 cabins for rent, equestrian facilities, over 12 miles of trails, splash park, playground facilities, day use shelters, group camping areas, 3 boat ramps with courtesy docks, 2 fish cleaning stations, 2 dump stations, full service marina facility, and a ADA Fishing Dock with kayak launch.

Cabins, campsite, and shelter reservations can be made online at www.reserveamerica.com, www.campitks.gov, the Camp It KS app, or by contacting the State Park Office.

There are many opportunities to observe or photograph wildlife on the 19,000-acre wildlife area located on the west side and upper end of the reservoir. The Steve Lloyd refuge contains an additional 1,100 acres. The diverse habitats support many species of non game birds, mammals, reptiles and aquatic life. Nearby Milford Nature Center and Milford Fish Hatchery (both are located below the dam) offer a variety of interpretive exhibits and displays. The lake hosts a large influx of bald eagles in the winter.

Hunters will find a variety of game including quail, pheasant, prairie chicken, duck, goose, rabbit, turkey, deer, and squirrel. Trappers are also active throughout the season in pursuit of raccoon, muskrat, beaver, and other furbearers.
